To strengthen the financial capability of the Ahlulbayt followers and foster cooperation between economic activists as well as ensure maximum presence in the world’s economic marketplaces, economic activities have been undertaken in the Ahlulbayt World Assembly. During the tenure of the Assembly’s current Secretary-General and due to his emphasis on attending to the state of affairs of the Ahlulbayt followers in various parts of the world and eliminating their poverty, particularly in Africa, a special delegation was sent to various regions in order to conduct studies on the subject.
Furthermore, in order to support financial and economic projects, a strategic council comprising of experienced economic activists has been established. The council has organized numerous meetings with fruitful results.
The most important economic activities and achievements of the Assembly in the last
few years are as follows:
MOJAB TRADEDEVELOPMENT CO. (Commercial Company)
This company is actively engaged in commercial affairs, imports, and exports. It has already established good commercial relations with different countries including Russia, Iraq, Tajikistan, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kenya.
The company is ready to embark on bilateral commercial cooperation through local investment in various countries.
ECONOMIC SUPPORTS IN AFRICA
In line with the objective of eliminating poverty from Shiah communities in Africa, the Ahlulbayt World Assembly has taken certain steps in the African continent such as establishing agricultural services company, conducting activities in Ethiopia, Kenya, Comoros, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Ivory Coast and Ghana; also registration of a trading company in South Africa, presenting memorandum of understanding for establishing a Green Belt in Malawi, and signing agreement with the officials of Mali.
Qarz-ul-Hasanah (Interest-Free Loan)
Funds in the Underprivileged Countries
Establishment of Qarz-ul-Hasanah Funds is another economic plan by the Ahlulbayt World Assembly, which aims at strengthening the financial abilities of poor communities and development of small industries.
Mojab Kosar Cooperative Enterprise
Mojab Kosar is a cooperative enterprise which was founded as a result of the sales of shares through Cooperative Development Bank with an initial capital of 5,000,000,000 Iranian Rials.
Through economic activities, Mojab Kosar, too, attempts to boost up the financial abilities of the followers of Ahlulbayt (a.s.). It has made exports to different countries including Italy, Burundi, Iraq, and Oman.
Economic Office in Iraq (In Process)
The main objective for the establishment of Economic Office in Iraq is to develop constructive cooperation between Iran and Iraq, as two countries with a deep love for the Ahlulbayt (a.s.).
The office will be active in economic and agricultural fields as well as tourism, health care, technical and engineering services, oil & gas industry, infrastructural services, medications, and medical equipment.
Committee of the Benevolent Followers of Ahlulbayt (a.s.)
The committee strives to attend to the problems of underprivileged Muslims and followers of the Ahlulbayt in both undeveloped and developing areas of the world with the help of wealthy benevolent businessmen and national or international humanitarian organizations.
Inspired by the life history of the Holy Prophet of Islam (s.a.) and his benevolent Household (Ahlulbayt), the committee also hastens to the aid of those affected by natural disasters, wars and other hardships to alleviate their miseries and eliminate the impact of catastrophes.
Relief Aids in Natural Disasters
The followers of Ahlulbayt are among the oppressed strata in their communities; therefore, they are more vulnerable to social harmsin unforeseen natural disasters such asearthquakes, floods, etc.
Under such circumstances, the Ahlulbayt World Assembly mobilizes its members and relevant forces to collect, dispatch, and monitor fair distribution of contributions among the disaster-stricken people.
Examples of Relief Aids by the Assembly have been seen in cases like the floodin Pakistan, the siege of Gaza, crisis in Bahrain, and famine in Somalia.
Contribution in Building Mosques
The Ahlulbayt World Assembly has established the Committee for Construction of Mosques (Committee of Mosque Builders) for this purpose in order to attract necessary financial sources and embark on the construction of mosques and worshipping places for the followers of Ahlulbayt (a.s.).
