Research

The new circumstances of today world demand for new books to respond to the intellectual and cultural needs of the followers of the Ahlulbayt.

With a view to this necessity, the Research Department of the Ahlulbayt World Assembly has researched and published memorable works with the help of competent writers and scholars of the theological seminaries and universities.

In general, this department is responsible for the following affairs:

A) Preparation and presentation of research projects;
B) Writing, editing, and indexing books;
C) Buying the copyrights of books relevant to the Assembly’s activities;
D) Formation of academic groups in the fields of Quranic science, interpretation (Tafseer), history and biography of the Ahlulbayt (Infallible Household of the Holy Prophet of Islam), etc.

Up to summer 2015, a total number of 1800 titles of books have been researched and published by the Ahlulbayt World Assembly and its affiliated Ahlulbayt centers worldwide.

One of the most important research works by the Assembly is A’laam al-Hidayah (Great Leaders of Guidance) in 14 volumes about the life histories of the Holy Prophet of Islam and the succeeding Infallible Imams (a.s.) in different languages.

Also the series of books entitled Fi Rihab Ahlulbayt have been authored in response to historical, theological and jurisprudential questions in more than 46 volumes.


TRANSLATION

To fulfill of the objectives of the Ahlulbayt World Assembly, the Translation Office of the Assembly embarks on translation of research works published by the Assembly as well as other valuable Islamic and Shiite books into various languages.

The Ahlulbayt World Assembly’s books have so far been translated into more than 55 languages including:

A) Asian Languages: Arabic, Urdu, Turkish, Azeri, Hindi,Bengali, Thai, Tajik, Chinese, Kurdish (Sorani), Kurdish (Kurmanji), Malaya, Uzbek, Tamil, Burmese,Pashtu, Farsi, Armenian, and Uighur.

B) African Languages: Hausa, Swahili, Fulani, Luganda,Rwandan, Yoruba, and Amharic.

C) European Languages: English, Spanish, French,Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Danish,
Bosnian, Finnish, Polish, Norwegian, Georgian.

Of the most important translated works of the Assembly, the following instances can be pointed out:

1. The Great Heritage of the Ahlulbayt’sSchool of Thought:

These include Imam Ali’s Nahjul Balaghah, Imam Sajjad’s Sahifah al-Sajjadiyah, prayer book entitled Mafatih al-Jinan, Risalat al-Huqooq (Imam Sajjad’s Treatise on Rights), among other books.

2. Authentic Books on Shiah Jurisprudence (Fiqh), Islamic Sayings (Hadith), Life Histories and Virtues of the Holy Ahlulbayt (a.s.):
Including Tuhaf-ul-Uqul, Uyun Akhbar al-Riza (a.s.), al-Kafi, al-Irshad, A’lam al-Hidayah (i.e. Great Leaders
of Guidance), Islamic Jurisprudence of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a.s.), Al-Imam Sadiq wal Madhahib Al-Arba’a
(Imam Sadiq and the Four Schools of thought),etc.

3. Written Works by Shiah Grand Ayatollahs, Thinkers, and Scholars:
Works of Imam Khomeini, Allamah Sharafuddin,Allamah Kashiful-Ghita, Grand Ayatollah Khoei, AllamehTabatabaie, Allameh Askary, Ayatollah Motahari, Ayatollah Sayyid Hassan Sadr, Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir Sadr, Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir Hakeem, Ayatollah Meshkini, Ayatollah Asefi, Allameh Sharif Qurashi, Ayatollah Khamenei, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, Ayatollah Saafi Golpayegani, Ayatollah Sobhani, Ayatollah Jawadi Amoli, Ayatollah Amini, Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi, and Ayatollah Ostadi.

4. The Letter of Supreme Leader to the Western Youth:
In the wake of blasphemousmeasures taken by western countries against the Holy Prophet of Islam(s.a.) and sacred Islamic beliefs, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khamenei, addressed the youth in Europe and the United States through an important letter. The letter was translated and published in 50 languages by the Ahlulbayt World Assembly in cooperation with the Ahlulbayt News Agency (abna.ir) and other parallel organizations and linked Shiites worldwide.

5. Books for Children and the Youth
- Nasim Ghadir, or the Zephyr of Ghadir: a collection of poems in ten volumes for children on the virtues of Imam Ali (in six languages).

- Aftabgardan, or Sunflower: a collection of stories in 48 volumes about the companions of the Holy Prophet
and Infallible Imams (in sixteen languages).

Apart from translation of books, the Translation Office is active in the field of translation of articles, official
statements and correspondences of the Ahlulbayt World Assembly with followers of the Ahlulbayt (a.s.) in
various parts of the world.

Printing, Publishing and Distribution

Further to intellectual, cultural and software supports for the audiences, the Ahlulbayt World Assembly takes care of their needs for printed publications as well. This means that whatever is produced by the two departments of research and translation shall be published by the Assembly’s Publishing Department and placed at the disposal
of the followers of Ahlulbayt. The outcome of this action has been publication and distribution of theHoly Quran, Imam Ali’s Nahjul-Balaghah, and around 1800 book titles in 55 spoken languages throughout the globe.

Ahl Al-Bayt World Assembly

The Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly  is an international non-governmental organization (INGO) that was established by a group of Shiite elites under the supervision of the great Islamic authority of the Shiites in 1990 to identify, organize, educate and support the followers of Ahl al-Bayt.
