Evaluation of the 9-year performance of WikiShia in Indonesian language
The session “Evaluation of the 9-year performance of the WikiShia in the Indonesian language” was held in the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Hall of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in Qom.
ABWA Official Website – On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the session “Evaluation of the 9-year performance of the WikiShia in the Indonesian language” was held in the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Hall of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in Qom.
In an interview with ABNA, Ebrahim Amini, the head of WikiShia Encyclopedia, stated, “The Indonesian language section of WikiShia was launched in September 2012. At the moment, the main members active in the Indonesian language section of WikiShia are Messrs. Akmal Kamel, Hendar Yusuf, Diding, and Ismail Amin, and in addition to them, 16 people are working in this section.”
“In this session, for the first time, we implemented the “Critic User” project,” explaining this project, he said, “Some Indonesian citizens recently came to Iran, read, and review our Indonesian language articles. They let us know any word, sentence, or phrase they feel is wrong.”
About the reception of Indonesian Muslims to WikiShia in their own language, the head of the WikiShia encyclopedia said, “Over the past 9 years, WikiShia in Indonesian has had more than 50 million visits. The average daily visit is more than 20,000, and in the last three months, 124,000 single users from Indonesia visited WikiShia.”
“In the last three months, the most searched phrase in the Indonesian language of the WikiShia, and through which the user entered the WikiShia, was the phrase “لولاک یا محمد” (If you did not exist, O Muhammad) on the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h),” he added.
About other programs of the session, he said, “Further in the session, Hojat al-Islam Hussain Bahrami, the manager of WikiShia languages, made a speech about the customs, traditions, and culture of Indonesia, and the requirements of wiki writing based on that country’s culture. Also, Mr. Akmal Kamel, Deputy for Research Affairs at the Jakarta Islamic Cultural Center, and the former manager of the Indonesian section of WikiShia, gave explanations about the quality and quantity of articles that should be written in the Indonesian language of WikiShia.”
“Then, I mentioned the necessity of writing some special articles in the Indonesian language. I also talked about WikiShia’s cooperation with the Jakarta Islamic Cultural Center. It is worth mentioning that since 2020, the Indonesian section of WikiShia has been fully entrusted to the Islamic Cultural Center of Jakarta, under the leadership of Hojat al-Islam Hakim Elahi,” Ebrahim Amini added.
“In this session, I suggested that we need to increase our communication with Jakarta Islamic Cultural Center. So that they let us know the needs, and we write or edit the articles based on the stated needs. In the final part of the session, Hojat al-Islam Dr. Mahdi Farmanian, Deputy for Scientific and Cultural Affairs of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, while expressing his gratitude for holding this session, suggested that criticism sessions be held in other languages of the WikiShia, especially Persian,” he said in the end.
