Daii of Mosta’alawi Ismaili Bohras of India said, “The poems and sayings of Hazrat Abu Talib are a proof of his faith and belief in the Prophet (p.b.u.h). Therefore, we must oppose the strange words that say that Abu Talib (a.s.) is an infidel.”

Scholars, intellectuals should clarify truth about faith of Abu Talib (a.s.) for the young generation: Daii of Ismaili Bohras

On the third day of the International Conference “Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), the Supporter of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)”, the specialized session of “Abu Talib (a.s.) from the Perspective of International Scholars” was held on Thursday morning, March 11, 2021, at Imam Khomeini School in Qom.

At the beginning of his speech, Haatim Zakiyuddin, Daii of Mosta’alawi Ismaili Bohras of India, appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Iranian nation, the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, Islamic Resistance led, especially Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, and the organizers of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).

“In history, the role of Abu Talib (a.s.) is very important for Muslims. Some have spoken of his Kufr and unbelief! While his ancestors were all mowahed (monotheist),” stated the head of Tayebi Bohra Alavi Ismailis.

“Until his death, Abu Talib supported the Prophet (p.b.u.h), and made great efforts to defend the Islam. The poems and sayings of Hazrat Abu Talib are a proof of his faith and belief in the Prophet (p.b.u.h). Therefore, we must oppose the strange words that say that Abu Talib (a.s.) is an infidel,” added Daii of Mosta’alavi Ismaili Bohras of India.

He, who participated in the conference through video conference, continued, “There is a hadith from the Prophet (p.b.u.h) in which hi says, “I and Ali (a.s.) were born from the most noble loins and purest wombs”. This hadith is sufficient to prove the purity of the lineage of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and Imam Ali (a.s.). Abu Talib (p.b.u.h) recited the marriage sermon for the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and Khadija (a.s.) and in this sermon he appealed to all his fathers, all of which were chosen by God. Because all the ancestors of Abu Talib (a.s.) were monotheist.”

“Scholars and intellectuals should strive without prejudice to document and clarify the facts about the faith of Abu Talib (a.s.) for the younger generation,” said Haatim Zakiyuddin in the end.

It should be said that that the Alawi Bohras are of the branches of the Mosta’alawi Tayebi Dawoodi Ismailis, who were in common with other Bohras Ismailis until the 28th Daii. However, after the claim of Adam Safi al-Din (died 1621 AD), with the claim of Ali Shamsa al-Din, who considered himself the 29th Daii of Taybi of Dawoodi, they are considered a new branch in the Ismailis. They became known as the Alawite Jamaat because of their belief in the claim of Ali Shams al-Din.

Since 2015 and after the death of Daii Tayeb Zia al-Din, Daii Haatim Zakiyuddin has been leading this group of Mosta’alawi Ismaili Shiites, as the 45th Daii of Bohra Alavi. The main center of the Alavi Mosta’alawi Ismailis community is located in Gujarat, India, specifically the city of Baruda.

The other branch of Taybi Davoodi Mosta’alawi, are the followers of Saif al-Din Mufazal. The Daii in the Ismaili religion has a rank after the Imam, and the Mosta’alawi Ismailis - unlike the Nazari Ismailis - believe that their Imam is a hidden.
