The specialized session “Demands from the West and the Chaste Life of Iranian and Western Muslim Women” was held with the theme “Breeze of Purity” with the participation of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

ABWA Official Website – On Sunday morning, July 16, 2023, the specialized session “Demands from the West and the Chaste Life of Iranian and Western Muslim Women” was held with the theme “Breeze of Purity” with the participation of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

In this session, about the importance of hijab, Mrs. Hanieh Turkian, a Shiite cultural activist from Italy, stated, “Hijab and chastity are an inseparable part of the Islamic Republic, and if it is forgotten, the entire government will be in danger.”

“I grew up in Italy and live there now,” she continued, “Compared to other countries, there is no problem with Muslim women’s hijab in Italy.”

“Dress code is observed in most countries of the world. In Italian schools, universities, or the judiciary, a person cannot wear whatever he or she wants. Therefore, in Iran, as a country with an Islamic identity, it is natural that the dress code is defined by Iranian and Islamic identity,” Turkian added.

Regarding the West’s measures to strengthen its identity, she said, “In Western countries, people are influenced by the culture-creating process of the United States and Britain. In Europe, identitarian movements are active and attempt to remove the negative influence of American culture and reproduce the authentic European culture. Westerners have concluded that they need to strengthen their identity.”

“Therefore, it is expected that the Iranian government is dependent on Islamic values. The government puts a lot of emphasis on solving economic issues, but economic issues are not more important than cultural issues, including hijab,” Hanieh Turkian said at the end of her speech.

It is worth mentioning that the program will be held at the same time as the anniversary of the Goharshad incident, and the week of “Chastity and Hijab” in person and virtually, with the cooperation of the Sisters Branch of Basij of Lawyers Organization, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, and Lady Amin Cultural Center.
