At the beginning of this conference, Mohammad Hossein Mehnati, the Amir of the Islamic Society of Sindh Province, gave a speech.

Referring to the initiative of the late Imam Khomeini (r.a.) in creating unity among the Islamic Ummah, he said, “Islamic Revolution of Iran was a great revolution, and Imam Khomeini (r.a.) took the best and most effective action by emphasizing the necessity of unity and proximity among the Islamic Ummah. The unity among the Ummah is important because from the perspective of the Quran, the differences destroy the glory and greatness of Muslims, and from this point of view, the action of the late Imam Khomeini (r.a.) is significant.”

Pointing out the normalization of the relations of some Arab countries with the Zionist regime, he added, “Some Islamic countries are leaning towards Israel. While today, supporting the oppressed of Palestine is one of the necessities of the Islamic world.”

“In the current situation, the restoration of relations between Islamic Iran and Saudi Arabia is approved and welcomed by everyone,” Mohammad Hossein Mehnati added, “Iran plays an important role in the greatness of the Islamic Ummah and its unity. In the past, there were more activities in the direction of approximation and unity by the Islamic Republic of Iran, and considering the developments in the world today, it is necessary to do more activities in this regard.

Hojat al-Islam Syed Razi Jafar Naqvi, one of the ulama of Sindh Province, and a member of the General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, was the other speaker at this conference.

Emphasizing the importance of Imam Khomeini’s initiative in the unity of the Islamic Ummah, he said, “Imam Khomeini (r.a.) repeatedly called Muslims to unite. If this union is not established, the enemy will separate and destroy them.”

Referring to the approaching days of mourning for Imam Hussain (a.s.) and the month of Muharram, Syed Razi Jafar Naqvi emphasized, “In mourning majlis for AhlulBayt (a.s.), everyone should be careful not to offend anyone; just as all religious leaders, especially the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, have declared insulting the sanctities of the Sunnis as haram.”

Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly was the special speaker of this conference.

While welcoming the ulama and intellectuals participating in the conference, and stating the objectives of the conference, Ayatollah Ramazani emphasized, “Striving for the unity of the Islamic Ummah has been one of the elders’ recommendations. The late Ayatollah Borujerdi from Iran and Sheikh Shaltut in Al-Azhar, Egypt, had good relations in the field of approximation, and these efforts brought good results to the Islamic world. In the thought of the late Imam Khomeini (r.a.) and Supreme Leader of the Revolution, Unity and approximation is not a tactical issue, but a strategic one and a definite belief.”

Pointing out the efforts of the enemies against the Islamic Ummah, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “In the last few centuries, the enemies made many attempts to either limit Islam or destroy it completely. The movement that seeks to limit Islam is against the entry of Islam into society and politics, and the secular version of Islam is of this type. Some others have sought to eradicate religion and belief in God and promoted secularism.”

“In the West, recently, a compassionate version of Islam is propagated and is trying to instill that the religion is against any kind of war,” referring to the new tricks of the arrogant world against Islam, Ayatollah Ramazani added, “It should be noted that the Quran is based on mercy. But Muslims should not remain silent in the face of tyrants. As Imam Ali (a.s.) says, “Be an enemy against the oppressor. Help the oppressed”.”

While denouncing the Swedish government’s recent action in granting permission to insult the Quran in the country, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “Recently, under the pretext of freedom of speech, the Swedish government hurt the hearts of 2 billion Muslims, and more than 2 billion followers of divine religions. We religious leaders must stand against these insults. This insulting action should be pursued in international organizations so that the perpetrators are punished for their actions. Insulting the Quran is insulting all the heavenly books, justice, spirituality, prophets, and humanity.”

“According to the statement of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), who said that “Muslims are like a single body”, all Muslims, including ulama and Islamic intellectuals, should station at the forefront of the fight against insulting the Quran, and show themselves as a united and strong Ummah,” Ayatollah Ramazani said at the end of his speech, underlining the unity of Muslims against the enemies of the Quran.

It is worth mentioning that this ceremony was held with the participation of Hojat al-Islam Mursali, Chairman of the Strategic Council of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Mr. Nourian, the Consul General, and Mr. Talebinia, the Chairman of Iran’s Culture House in Karachi.
