The session of the commission “Scientific works of Ayatollah Al-Khersan and his defense of AhlulBayt (a.s.) school”, chaired by Ayatollah Sayed Monzer Hakim, was held on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2022, at the jurisprudence center of the Immaculate Imams (a.s.) in Qom.
In this conference, Hojat al-Islam Reza Mokhtari, in presenting his article entitled “Characteristics and priorities of Ayatollah Al-Khersan in research and activity in the field of serving Islam” stated, “Allamah al-Khersan wrote his works in defense of the Shiite school and AhlulBayt (a.s.), and some of his works are particularly prominent.”
“Allameh Al-Khersan has emended 9 volumes out of 110 volumes of Bihar al-Anwar, and he has books about Hazrat Mohsen (a.s.), Fadak, Shaqq al-Qamar, proof of Imam Ali’s (a.s.) Velayat, etc. Also, in one of his books, he answered the doubts cast by an Egyptian scholar who had written a book against Shia,” he added.
Then, Hojat al-Islam Najarzadegan, in presenting his article entitled “Terminology of AhlulBayt (a.s.), with review and completion of Ayatollah Azmi Khoei’s Urjuza and its description by Ayatollah Al-Khersan” said, “Allameh Al-Khersan completed Ayatollah Khoei’s Urjuza (a form and style in classical Arabic poetry).”
“AhlulBayt (a.s.) in the Hadith of Thaqalayn refers to the AhlulBayt (family) of the Prophethood which is used in hadiths narrated from the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h). Also, the word AhlulBayt (a.s.) is mentioned three times in the Quran, two verses of which are about the AhlulBayt (family) of Prophethood,” he added.
“In order to understand who the AhlulBayt (a.s.) are, it must be mentioned in the word of God or in the word of the Prophet (p.b.u.h),” stated this Quranic researcher.
Then in the conference, Sheikh Karim Shati al-Seraji, in presenting his article entitled “Verses proving the Imamate of Imam Ali (a.s.) in the book “Ali, Imam of the Virtuous” written by Sayed Al-Khersan” stated, “Allameh Al-Khersan is one of the great ulama of Najaf who has written various works on the teachings of AhlulBayt (a.s.).”
“In some of his works, Allameh AL-Khersan seeks to prove the Velayat of Imam Ali (a.s.). In this regard, he also uses Sunni sources and their jurisprudential and theological books. On the other hand, he has discussed the distortions of Sunnis about Shia,” he continued.
Further, in presenting his article entitled “Defense of the faith of Abu Talib, with emphasis on the perspective of Ayatollah Sayed Mohammad Mahdi Al-Musawi Al-Khersan”, Hojat al-Islam Mohammad Faker Meybodi, stated, “Allameh Al-Khersan has the most correct statement and position about the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).”
Regarding the background of discussions related to the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), he said, “Hazrat Abu Talib’s (a.s.) faith has been discussed a lot among Islamic ulama. All Shiite ulama believe in the faith of Abu Talib (a.s.) and most of the Sunnis believe that he did not have faith.”
“Allameh Al-Khersan believes that the distortion of Abu Talib’s character is due to the fact that he is the father of Imam Ali (a.s.), and in order to destroy and reduce the status of that Imam, they say that his father did not believe (in Islam)! Whereas if it was about the father of another companion of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), they would have mentioned him very respectfully,” the researcher added.
Then, in the presentation of his article “Examination of the Book of Prostration on the Soil of Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) Grave, from the Viewpoint of Sayed Mahdi Al-Khersan”, Sheikh Wafghan Khadhir Al-Kaabi said, “Prostration on soil is one of the rites observed by the believers, and this issue is also mentioned in Sunni sources.”
“In the discussion of prostration on the soil of the grave of Imam Hussain (a.s.), Allameh Al-Khersan has mentioned topics such as comparative jurisprudence, arguments of supporters and opponents, historical topics, etc.,” he added.
In presenting his article entitled “Sayed Mahdi Al-Khersan’s Jurisprudential Argumentation Approach; Case Study: Prostration on the Soil of Imam Hussain (a.s.)”, Asa’ad Abdul Razzaq Al-Asadi said, “Allameh Al-Khersan is a very humble person. In such a way that he is not known as a Faqih (jurist) among ulama. While he has used comparative jurisprudence in his discussions.”
“In his works, Allameh Al-Khersan has invited everyone to the proximity of Islamic denominations and Islamic unity, and he also has a book on this topic. He complains why Muslims Takfir (excommunication from Islam of one Muslim by another, i.e., accusing another Muslim to be an apostate.) each other, while they have common enemies,” he added.
Further in the conference, in presenting his article “An Analysis of the Intellectual-Political School of Ayatollah Khoei; Emphasizing the position of Ayatollah Al-Khersan in this school”, Dr. Abdul Wahhab Furati stated, “I did not find a sign of politics and political action in Allameh Al-Khersan’s political thought and practice.”
“Allameh Al-Khersan is one of the students of Ayatollah Khoei and Ayatollah Hakim. Ayatollah Khoei’s students have written and spoken about the discussion of the Velayat-e Faqih and Jihad of that Marja. While Allameh Al-Khersan did not write anything for these two books,” he continued.
“The study of Ayatollah Al-Khersan’s works and social practice shows that he is bound to the approach of Ayatollah Khoei’s school in general, but he is not interested in following his teacher in a specific approach,” he added.
It worth mentioning that the Najaf section of the “1st Conference of the Umana al-Rosol (Trustees of the Messengers): Commemoration of the Grand Ayatollah Sayed Muhammad Mahdi Al-Musawi Al-Khersan” with research meetings was held in the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (a.s.). The closing ceremony of this section was also held on the Tuesday evening, October 18, 2022, in the conference hall of Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.), and the authors of the selected articles and a number of organizers of the conference were appreciated.
Also, the two holy shrines of Imam Ali (a.s.) and Imam Hussain (a.s.), as well as about 30 scientific and cultural institutions – including the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly – have participated in holding this conference. /345/
