A report of the Journalist’s Day ceremony at the AhlulBayt (a.s.) News Agency
The annual meeting of ABNA colleagues was held with the presence of Ayatollah Ramazani, Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
ABWA Official Website – On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, the annual meeting of the colleagues of AhlulBayt (a.s.) International News Agency – ABNA, and the unveiling ceremony of the “Hadith-graph of Faithful Life” in Swahili, was held in the meeting hall of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in Qom.
The ceremony, in addition to Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, was attended by several intellectuals from the media and culture field, including Hojat al-Islam Lotfi Niaser, Director General of IRIB Qom, Dr. Amir Ali Amuzadeh, Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Qom Province, Dr. Kamal Akbari, President of Qom IRIB University, Hojat al-Islam Reza Rostami, Head of Media and Virtual Space Office of Seminaries Management Center, Hojat al-Islam Mohammad Mahdi Mohagheghi, CEO of Rasa News Agency, as well as colleagues of ABNA News Agency from different cities and countries.
ABNA News Agency is on the path of growth and leap
Referring to the development in ABNA News Agency, Ayatollah Ramazani said, “This news agency is on the path of growth and leap, which is visible in different sectors. For example, fifteen events were organized by ABNA News Agency. The path of progress is being followed and there is a promising perspective for this news agency. In the policy council of ABNA News Agency, which is composed of media experts and figures, it should be examined that during the last 18 months in the new management period, what work has been done with what hardware and software, what work has not been done, and what work should be done; so that the current evolution continues in the future. The performance of ABNA News Agency in the media exhibition and commemoration of the Gazan martyr journalists has been good.”
“Capacities should be consolidated in the ABNA News Agency. Every user who visits any page of ABNA should see that this is a specialized news agency. If there are criticisms in ABNA News Agency, they should be identified and fixed. ABNA should become the scientific refuge and reference for the Shiites of the world. So if anyone in the world wants to receive reliable news about Shiites, he should refer to this news agency. ABNA should have the standards of international news agencies. It needs to be equipped with today’s knowledge and not neglect updating. One of the most important issues that ABNA should pay attention to is the explanation of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) teachings,” he continued.
A journalist has a prophetic mission
In this ceremony, Dr. Amir Ali Amuzadeh, Director General of Culture and Guidance Organization of Qom province also gave a speech. While congratulating the Journalist’s Day, he expressed his satisfaction at being in the gathering of ABNA News Agency journalists. Expressing his appreciation for the efforts of ABNA, Amuzadeh emphasized, “A journalist continues the mission of the prophets, which is a crucial mission. Happy are the journalists who follow such a mission and are taking steps to disseminate the AhlulBayt (a.s.) teachings.”
The sanctity of performance is one of the characteristics of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) News Agency
Further in the meeting, Mohammad Mahdi Shariatmadar, a member of the ABNA policy council, stated, “AhlulBayt (a.s.) International News Agency is one of the most important specialized news agencies in the country, one of its characteristics is the sanctity of its performance. The task of this news agency is to promote the AhlulBayt (a.s.) teachings and disseminate news about the activities of AhlulBayt (a.s.) followers around the world. ABNA News Agency is certainly one of the few media and information tools in the field. The sanctity of the name and position of AhlulBayt (a.s.) extends to the performance of each active member of this news agency. ABNA is the voice of those Shiites around the world who do not have access to information and media tools for many reasons.”
“During the new management period of the ABNA, a serious change occurred in the news agency,” he added, “Of course, this does not mean negating the predecessors’ efforts. ABNA has a variety of languages and audiences, and the news agency should be the voice of the voiceless Shiites who don’t have any media outlets. This is important to consider because today Shiite and Shiism are not just a jurisprudential and historical religion. Rather, it is a phenomenon that plays a significant role in regional developments and historical events.”
Regarding ABNA’s approach, the former adviser of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lebanon stated, “In addition to paying attention to Shiism and Shiites, paying attention to Islamic unity, resistance, and defending justice-seeking issues, such as Palestine, are among other approaches of the news agency that can promote ABNA News Agency, which has a special function.”
The first ABNA AI reporter unveiled
Further, Hassan Sadraei Aref, head of ABNA, reported on the activities and approaches of the news agency in the new period of management and mentioned the expansion of activities in more languages. “In addition to the activities of ABNA News Agency in 27 languages, the activity in Korean has started as the 28th language of the news agency on a trial basis with the support of the Secretary-General of AhlulBayt (a.s.) the World Assembly. ABNA is actively present in the important events of the Islamic world and serious attention has been paid to the multimedia field in the news agency. Over the past 18 months, more than 15 events have been held in the news agency, and the activity of AhlulBayt (a.s.) media academy has also started in this regard.”
“At ABNA News Agency, with the suggestion of colleagues, we are starting to work in artificial intelligence to use this capacity to produce news. In this regard, an artificial intelligence reporter is unveiled, and by the end of the year, five artificial intelligence reporters will be added to the news agency,” he added.
In the continuation of the ceremony, some of the managers of different sections of the ABNA presented brief reports on the efforts made in departments of the news agency.

During the ceremony, the honorary journalist card of ABNA News Agency was presented to Ayatollah Ramazani, and the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly became ABNA’s member.
