African member of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly condoles the demise of Ayatollah Safi Golpaygani

In a message, Hojat al-Islam Sayed Aftab Haidar Razavi, South African member of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Director of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Foundation and Imam of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Grand Mosque in Cape Town, condoles the demise of Ayatollah Safi Golpaygani.

The English translation of this message is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h): When an alem (Islamic scholar) dies, there is an irreparable loss for Islam that nothing can make up for.

With great sadness, we received the news of the demise of the great alem of the Shiite world, Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi Golpaygani, from Qom, Islamic Republic of Iran.

In terms of seminary degrees, he was one of the distinguished students of various seminaries in Qom and Najaf, one of the most prominent of whom was the late Grand Ayatollah Borujerdi. He left a rich scientific legacy, including several books that he wrote and translated into English, and we benefit from them, his very valuable works about the twelfth Imam, Hazrat Mahdi (a.s.).

Among the salient features of that pious alem was his special attention to the propagation of Islam and the school of AhlulBayt (a.s.) throughout the world. His great interest in this matter was deeply felt in his meetings with Shiites and AhlulBayt (a.s.) lovers from abroad.

In the many interactions I had with that great alem, I saw his indescribable humility and love, which became quite evident, especially in his support and care after the catastrophic event in our Shiite community - terrorist attack on Imam Hussain (a.s.) Mosque in Durban and the martyrdom of Hafez Abbas Isoup. We will also never forget his brilliant message issued on the occasion of the opening of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Grand Mosque in 2017, which was an amazing inspiration, guide and support for us.

The AhlulBayt (a.s.) Foundation of South Africa and all its members and associates express their condolences to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, esteemed and bereaved family of the deceased, especially his esteemed son, Hojat al-Islam Sheikh Hassan Safi Golpaygani, students, devotees and his followers and Muqallids, and we ask God Almighty for the highest degrees for him.

May God Almighty bless his heavenly soul with His infinite mercy, and reunite him with the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and his AhlulBayt (a.s.).
