“Currently, the entry and exit at the Iran-Iraq borders is smooth and the deadline for the use of pilgrims’ traffic cards to participate in the Arbaeen ceremony in Iraq has ended. Of course, the pilgrims who are currently in Iraq can return to Iran by the end of Safar,” Ahmadi Vahidi stated.

Referring to the arrangements made to transfer the pilgrims from the borders and return them to their cities, he said, “The waiting time of pilgrims during the Arbaeen ceremony this year was reduced to 20 minutes. This is while in the past years, they sometimes had to wait more than a day for the means of transportation to return to their cities.”

“At the border of Ilam, due to the four-lane road that was done to facilitate Arbaeen pilgrimage, we no longer see one-way roads and traffic problems,” Vahidi stated.

“This year, one of the best, most magnificent and regular Arbaeen ceremonies was held in history. In this regard, the Iraqi government had a good cooperation,” stated the Minister of Interior in another part of his speech.

“In public transportation, by using the capacity of all executive bodies and armed forces, including the Revolutionary Guards, the police force, and the Army, as well as municipalities, we were able to provide suitable services for the movement of pilgrims,” he stated.

“At the Ilam border alone, we used a thousand buses from municipalities, which played a positive role in the ease of movement of pilgrims,” Vahidi said.
