Custodian of Holy Shrine of Hazrat Abbas Commends ABWA’s Activities

Hojat al-Islam Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, the custodian of the Holy Shrine of Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (a.s.), in a meeting with Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, and his accompanying delegation, emphasized the significant role of the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) in resolving social and cultural issues. He called for introducing these valuable principles to global societies and stressed the necessity of expanding cooperation in promoting the AhlulBayt’s (a.s.) thought in various languages.

During the meeting, Ayatollah Ramazani presented a comprehensive report on the intellectual and cultural activities and initiatives of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, including the translation and dissemination of AhlulBayt (a.s.) teachings into 27 languages, the compilation of a 14-volume series on the lives and conduct of the Infallible Imams (a.s.), and the authorship of a collection on doctrinal principles based on the words of the AhlulBayt (a.s.).

The Secretary-General also highlighted the media efforts of the Assembly in covering news related to the holy shrines, Islamic seminaries, and cultural and religious matters. He proposed collaboration to reflect the scholarly and cultural activities of the administration of the Shrine of Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (a.s.).

Sayed Ahmad al-Safi appreciated these efforts and acknowledged the global scope of the activities of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, as well as Ayatollah Ramazani’s valuable contributions in expanding the Assembly’s intellectual and cultural reach. He described the 14-volume series on the Imams (a.s.) and the 3-volume work on the doctrinal foundations of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) school as among the most significant efforts in preserving and spreading Shiite thought.

Referring to the importance of some scholarly and cultural projects, such as the compilation of al-Kafi, which has transmitted many foundational Shiite teachings from the Infallible Imams (a.s.) to later generations, he stressed that, “without such works, the intellectual legacy of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) would have hardly reached us.”

Sayed Ahmad al-Safi also underlined the spiritual and educational impact of Ziyarat texts such as Ziyarat al-Warith, Ziyarat Ashura, and Ziyarat Jami‘a Kabira, stating that these texts have not only preserved the tradition of pilgrimage but also sustained the spiritual and intellectual connection of believers with the AhlulBayt (a.s.).

He proposed forming a committee of scholars and specialists tasked with conveying the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) to the general public.

The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Abu al-Fadl (a.s.), referencing the saying of Imam Reza (a.s.), “فَإِنَّ اَلنَّاسَ لَوْ عَلِمُوا مَحَاسِنَ كَلاَمِنَا لاَتَّبَعُونَا” (If people knew the beauty of our words, they would follow us,) added, “The responsibility of this committee would be to extract the principles of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) school from authentic texts and present them to the world.” This task, he emphasized, requires capable scholars, who fortunately are present within Islamic seminaries.

Further, he stressed the necessity of translating and localizing these teachings for the diverse cultures and ethnicities of the world. “Given that the mission of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) is universal and not confined to any particular ethnicity or nation, their teachings must be conveyed to various peoples to highlight their strategic role in solving cultural and social problems,” he said.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Sayed Ahmad al-Safi warned against the incorrect comparison made by some individuals between the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and personal interpretations. “The principles of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) are derived from divine revelation and the Prophetic tradition, and it is these principles that must serve as the standard for evaluating thoughts and ideas, not the other way around,” he stated.
