Unity and empathy, the best approach to propagate Shia: Tanzanian missionary

Idi Sidi Wambua, a missionary from Tanzania, stated, “Lack of unity and insisting on differences causes many problems for Shiite and Sunni Muslims. This unity must first of all be created among the Shiites themselves. Because they are all enthusiasts of AhlulBayt (a.s.), and this is the best propagation for Shiism.”

Tanzania is one of the African countries where Islam has been prevalent for a long time, and due to the presence and relations of Iranians with this country and Zanzibar region, the Shiite school is known in this country.

Idi Sidi Wambua, Tanzanian cleric of Al-Mustafa (p.b.u.h) International University of Qom, in response to a question about the situation of Shiites in this country, pointed out some of the problems of Shiites in the past in this country, and stated, “Currently, the Shiites of Tanzania have good status. The history of the presence of the Shiite school in Tanzania dates back to before the Islamic Revolution of Iran. However, Shiites could not express their opinions and views at that time.”

“But after the victory of the Islamic Revolution Iran, thanks to the leadership of Imam Khomeini (r.a.) and Imam Khamenei, Tanzanian Shiites found an opportunity to express themselves and proudly say that they are Shiites,” Wambua continued.

Shiites and Sunnis of Tanzania have close relations

Regarding the relations between Shiites and Sunnis in Tanzania, this member of Al-Mustafa (p.b.u.h) International University expressed, “Sunnis and Shiites in Tanzania have close and friendly relations. The main reason for these good relations is the use of meetings such as the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly by Tanzanian Shiites.”

Considering division as the main problem of the Shiites of the world, he emphasized, “Lack of unity and insisting on differences causes many problems for Shiite and Sunni Muslims. If the differences with Sunnis are put aside, many of these problems will be solved.”

“This unity must first of all be created among the Shiites themselves. Because they are all enthusiasts of AhlulBayt (a.s.), and this is the best propagation for Shiism,” Wambua stressed.

Predicting the future of the Shiites in Tanzania as brilliant, this missionary cleric expressed, “The chief strength of Shiites in Tanzania is their excellent and extensive relationship with Sunnis. On the other hand, the Shiites of Tanzania have a good relationship with the government of the country.”

“In the past, the government had no proper knowledge about Shiites. Some considered Shiites as heretics, and due to Wahhabi propaganda, even infidels. The situation has been completely changed and now the government recognizes the Shiites as Muslims,” he explained.

In the end, regarding the 7th General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, emphasizing the role of this Assembly in the connecting Shiites of the world, Wambua stated, “The programs of this year’s General Assembly were outstanding and the attendance of Shiite Muslim brothers from other countries is an exclusive opportunity. Communicating with other Shiites of the world makes us familiar with other ideas, and we can learn the correct and new ways of propagating Islam and the Shiite school through this communication with ulama.”

The 7th General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly was held from September 1 to 3, 2022 at Iran International Conference Center in Tehran, with the presence of hundreds of members of the General Assembly and dignitaries from different countries.
