Ramadan month of purification of body, soul/path to attain virtues: Ayatollah Ramazani

On April 9, 2021, in the gathering of Imam Reza (a.s.) pilgrims in the courtyard of Imam Khomeini, the holy shrine of Imam Reza (a.s.), with the wish of accepting the obedience and worship of all the pilgrims of the Imam Reza shrine by God, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani stated, “Friday belongs to Imam Zaman (a.s.).”

“At present, the conditions of society are not ready in any way for all people to enjoy the blessings of Imam Mahdi (a.s.) and for the human world to taste justice,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, pointing out that we believe in the existing savior and that Hazrat Mahdi (a.s.) is present and his existence is a blessing for all humanity.

“Shiites must act as a righteous and active waiter during the absence of Imam Mahdi (a.s.),” he mentioned.

“Our main task is self-knowledge, self-improvement, helping to improve others and preparing the ground for the advent of Hazrat Imam Mahdi (a.s.),” Ayatollah Ramazani emphasized, pointing out that it is not our duty to leave work, effort, and life for the pilgrimage of Imam Mahdi (a.s.).

“Our duty is to prepare our souls for the advent of Imam Mahdi, to help others, and to seek to acquaint people with the teachings of Imam Mahdi,” noted the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, stating that the visit of Imam al-Zaman (a.s.) is a great tawfiq that does not include everyone.

“In order to live with knowledge and belief in Imam Mahdi (a.s.), we must know him, and it is this knowledge that increases our love for the Imam,” he noted, pointing out that knowing Imam Mahdi (a.s.) is one of the main duties of those waiting.

“Some claim that when Imam Mahdi (as) appears, they are ready to obey him. However, we must obey him from now on,” Ayatollah Ramazani said, pointing out that obedience to Imam al-Zaman (a.s.) is another duty of Shiites in the era of occultation.

“Obedience during the period of occultation is such that according to his advice, we should follow the narrators of the hadith and those who have the velayat. That is when we can say that we have obeyed Imam Mahdi (a.s.),” stated the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“We should all increase our knowledge and love for Imam al-Asr (a.s.),” he emphasized, pointing out that the time of advent is the time of obedience and we should surrender ourselves to the Imam.

Saying that those who love the pure Imams (a.s.), this friendship will be connected to God, Ayatollah Ramazani added, “The same is true of hatred towards the AhlulBayt (a.s.). Anyone who upsets those nobles will definitely see the effect in life.”

“With the right understanding of prayer, we come to real life,” stated the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, emphasizing reciting the prayer in the holy month of Sha’ban.

“Man must recite Zikr both verbally and spiritually, and pay attention to the meaning and educate himself,” he clarified, stating that some people say a lot of Zikr verbally but do not pay attention to the meaning.

“Sometimes, with one word, removing someone’s support, hurting someone, dishonoring someone, we distance ourselves from God,” Ayatollah Ramazani stated, pointing out that actions, deeds, behavior, and attributes are vices that turn man away from God.

“Sha’baniyah supplication has very great themes and, in this supplication, we talk to God with special literature,” he added, emphasizing that we must speak to God in the language of truth and offer everything we have.

“Anyone who knows what is going on in this month would like it to be Ramadan all days and years,” he said, referring to the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan.

“The month of Ramadan is attributed to God and we should remember this month with praise and honor,” Ayatollah Ramazani emphasized, pointing out that the prayers of “Eftetah” (inauguration) and “Veda” (farewell) mention the greatness of the holy month of Ramadan.

“In the fast of thought, man focuses on the works, verses, and divine craft and meditates on them,” stated the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, saying that some people, in addition to starving during Ramadan, are fasting through their thought and soul.

He pointed to the special fast of some people and emphasized, “On the special fasting, man does not think for a moment other than God that this fasting is very difficult for us.”

Ayatollah Ramazani called Ramadan the month of purification of body and soul and added, “The effects of fasting in this holy month for the body have been scientifically proven, and spiritually, fasting brightens the human soul.”

“Sometimes a backbite or a slip causes our forty days of prayer and fasting to be set aside,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, pointing out that it is difficult for a person to take care of himself in all matters during the day.

“Beautiful words are so effective that when we speak to water with pleasant words, water shows beautiful pictures,” he pointed out, explaining that a person learns in prayer how to say beautiful things.

“In contrast, ugly words also have a negative effect, and objects react badly,” Ayatollah Ramazani added.

“The head of all virtues and the basis of morality and moral virtues is piety,” noted the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, pointing out that the month of Ramadan is the month of purification and the path to attain virtues.

“Piety means giving one’s heart to God, paying attention to Wajibs (obligations) and mustahabbs (recommendations), abandoning taboos, helping others, and not bothering others,” he clarified.

“Whoever can discipline his heart, the Quran will be revealed to his heart,” Ayatollah Ramazani noted, saying that piety softens the human soul and prepares it for the Qadr Nights and communication with God.

The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly called Ramadan the spring of the Quran and added, “The Quran is healing and teaches man discipline.”

He pointed to the enemies’ plans to undermine the beliefs of adolescents, young people, and families and said, “We must use the opportunity of Tawakkul (trust in God) and Tawassul (recourse in AhlulBayt) during the month of Ramadan to strengthen the beliefs in the Islamic society.”

“Ramadan also softens and trains the soul so that we have a global perspective to solve humanity’s problems,” Ayatollah Ramazani added, saying that the holy month of Ramadan draws more attention to the poor and needy.

“All prayers in Ramadan are for all the people of the world; Prayers for all the sick and all the hungry and so on. This shows that there is no difference between Muslim and non-Muslim sick and hungry,” the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly pointed out.

“This vicious virus has taken over the human world. When he quarantined four billion people, it shows that there is no difference between Muslims and non-Muslims,” he said, referring to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus in the world.

“Fasting has a spiritual and social effect, and when the human soul is disciplined, prayer will certainly be answered,” Ayatollah Ramadan stated, saying that the human soul becomes soft during Ramadan and man speaks to God with this spirit.
