On Saturday, April 3, 2021, by attending the "Mesbah" program of IRIB Quran TV, Deputy Secretary-General and Deputy of Cultural Affairs of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Hojat al-Islam “Ahmad Ahmadi Tabar” explained the activities of the conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (AS); The supporter of the Prophet (p.b.u.h).

At the beginning of the program, congratulating the viewers on the New Persian Year, Hojat al-Islam Ahmad Ahmadi Tabar wished a blessed year for all and prayed for solving the problems of human society and the Covid-19 disaster, which has gripped the world.

At the beginning of his speech, referring to the history, structure, Supreme Council, General Assembly, and activities of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, he introduced the dissemination of the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), the intellectual and cultural promotion of the followers of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), and the effort to solve the problems of the Shiites of the world through international organizations as the missions of the Assembly.

According to him, translating and publishing more than 2,000 books in 60 living languages of the world, establishing ABNA News Agency and its activities in 25 languages to provide media support to the followers of AhlulBayt (a.s.) worldwide, holding scientific conferences, and various other cultural activities, are among the actions of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly to achieve the goals.

Explanation on the activities of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.); Supporter of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)

“When the Umayyads came to power, they did not allow this figure to be properly introduced. After the Umayyads, the Abbasids, due to a series of hostilities, prevented the proper introduction of this character,” said the secretary of the “International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.); supporter of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)” in describing the activities of the conference, emphasizing that Hazrat Abu Talib is one of the most oppressed figures in the history of Islam.

“As a result of the propaganda of these enemies, in the late second Hijri century and early third Hijri century onwards, nonsense about Abu Talib (a.s.) was raised. While Hazrat Abu Talib is a great figure and in many ways can be a role model for human society,” Ahmadi Tabar clarified.

“Part of the Jewish people had many conspiracies to prevent the birth of the prophet of the End of Time. Hashem, the ancestor of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), was poisoned in Palestine and died in Gaza, and his grave is in Gaza. They (Jews) desperately wanted the Prophet (p.b.u.h) not to be born. When the Prophet was born, all the attention of Hazrat Abd al-Muttalib, his grandfather, was on the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h),” stated the Deputy of Cultural Affairs of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly on the conspiracies of the Jewish people against the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and the role of Abd al-Muttalib (a.s.) and Abu Talib (a.s.) in protecting him.

“At the time of his death, Hazrat Abd al-Muttalib (a.s.) had a detailed will and chose Abu Talib as his successor. While Hazrat Abu Talib (p.b.u.h) was not his eldest son and he did not have wealth and abundance. But at the same time, he was wise, manager, mastermind, and planner. Two-thirds of the will of Hazrat Abd al-Muttalib (a.s.) is related to the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). Because the conspiracies of the Jews against the Prophet (p.b.u.h) will be thwarted, and it will not work. Therefore, Hazrat Abu Talib did not go on business trips for about three to four years until famine and problems arose. From then on, he takes the Prophet (p.b.u.h) with him on business trips,” he continued.

“When the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) was chosen as the Prophet (by God), we see all of his moments and the moments of Islam with Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.). Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) manages all cases in the best way and supports the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) and overcomes hardships and is seriously present everywhere. He has unique relationships, management, and diplomacy that can be seen as a model in this regard,” the Deputy Secretary-General and Deputy of Cultural Affairs of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated regarding the support of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) for the Prophet (p.b.u.h).

“When the Muslims were under pressure and hardship, Hazrat Abu Talib, with his connections the king of Abyssinia, sent a group of Muslims there under the leadership of his son, Ja’far ibn Abi Talib. In all the conspiracies of the enemies of Islam, and in all currents, Abu Talib is the model of resistance and the anonymous commander of Islam. In Islam, there are many anonymous soldiers. But there is no anonymous commander like Hazrat Abu Talib; The one who managed all the issues and political, economic, and social constraints that the Moshrekin (polytheists) brought to the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) and the Muslims in the best way, and defended the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) comprehensively. In all these respects, Hazrat Abu Talib (p.b.u.h) is a role model,” he continued.

“When Abu Talib (p.b.u.h) dies, the Prophet (p.b.u.h) is told “leave Mecca!” meaning “Mecca is no longer your place because you no longer have a supporter”,” Ahmadi Tabar added, saying that Sheikh Al-Bat’ha is one of the figures whom the history has told all of his events.

“The International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was held to introduce the various dimensions of Hazrat Abu Talib. One of the conference committees was the “Committee of Resistance”. In this committee, all resistance groups participated and discussed the dimensions of the resistance of Hazrat Abu Talib. In this conference, other dimensions of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) such as literary dimensions and his poems were also examined. Infallible Imams (a.s.) advise us to read the poems of Abu Talib, learn and teach them to our children. All the high knowledge can be seen in the poems of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.),” he said, explaining the activities of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).

“When the preparations for holding the conference of Abu Talib (a.s.) began and it was decided to hold this conference, with the view that it will be international and the organizer will be the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, we went to all Muslims (from different denominations) so that we could include everyone in the conference. Shiites attended the conference with many articles. We went to different religions and sects of Sunnis, Sufis, and Salafis. Major Sunni scholars from Al-Azhar University in Egypt attended the conference. One of the elders of the Sunnis of Syria, Sheikh “Mahmoud Akam”, the Mufti of Aleppo, in an article, rejected the theory that Abu Talib did not believe (in Islam) and was a Moshrek (polytheist) and such slanders. The translation of the title of his article is: “O you who believe! Abu Talib was a believer, and whoever doubts this, it is his fault”,” added the Deputy Secretary-General and Deputy of Cultural Affairs of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“In addition to the Twelver Shiites and Sunnis, followers of other Shiite sects – including the Zaydis, Ismailis (Bohras and Aga Khanis), and Alawites – also attended the conference and submitted good articles. Even the Druze scholars, who often do not get involved in these issues, wrote articles. The Ibadis of Oman were also present at the conference. Everyone presented glorious works about Hazrat Abu Talib. The conference articles are collected in approximately 10 books and the books and articles of the conference have a total of about 30 volumes. We unveiled some of the works at the ending ceremony of the conference and some work needs to be done about other parts,” stated the professor of the seminary and the university.

“We felt that in order for these issues to last, we also had to turn to art. Therefore, artistic activities were also held on the sidelines of the conference. The result of it was very glorious and good works. For example, prominent calligraphers gathered in the shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (a.s.) in a ceremony and created beautiful calligraphic paintings about Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.). Or a poetry reading program about Hazrat Abu Talib called “Mysterious Rite - Commemoration of Hazrat Abu Talib” was held in which poets from Iran and different countries recited their poems in this ceremony. The Children and Adolescents Festival of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was also held and more than 1000 works were sent to the Secretariat. An art and media festival about Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was held and more than 120 works came to this festival,” said Ahmadi Tabar, regarding the activities carried out on the sidelines of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).

At the end of the “Mesbah” program, the host asked Mr. Ahmadi Tabar, “How can people, experts, and scholars get access to the outcome of your conference?”

“Hazrat Abu Talib Conference has a website in which all the works are uploaded. In addition, a series of works related to Abu Talib have been done in the Wiki Shia, which is available in this encyclopedia. There is also a digital library where conference proceedings will be uploaded,” the secretariat of the conference replied.

“A good package has been prepared about the works of the conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), which has been provided to some members of the media. As they announced that they have information about Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) to be published for 10 years,” he emphasized.

“There is a discussion about the “Sahaba al-Abrar” (Good Companions) that should be followed up. For example, Hazrat Hamza Sayed al-Shuhada (a.s.) is one of the oppressed figures of history. Or the character of Hazrat Khadija (a.s.) has not been examined as she deserves as “Umm Al-Mu’minin” (mother of the believers). In the future, the likes of these oppressed figures will be addressed in the framework of the “Sahaba al-Abrar”,” Ahmadi Tabar concluded in the end, about the future conferences of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

It should be mentioned that by the initiation of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, and support and cooperation of the similar institutions, including, “Imam Hossein (a.s.) Holy Shrine”, “Hazrat Aboutaleb Research and Publishing Institute”, “The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought”, “Islamic Sciences and Culture Academy of Islamic Propagation Office”, “Al-Mustafa International University”, “Hawza Language teaching center”, “International University of AhlulBayt (a.s.)”, “Mirath-e Nabowat Cultural Institute”, “Jamiat al-Zahra Seminary University”, “Zorria al-Nabawia Research Center”, “Qasem ibn al-Hassan (a.s.) Religious-Cultural Institute”, and “Abna al-Rasoul Cultural and Artistic Institute”; international conference “Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), Supporter of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)” was be held on Rajab 25, 26 and 27, 1442 (March 9, 10 and 11, 2021) on the anniversary of the death of Abu Talib (a.s.).

Committee of Theology and Beliefs/Abu Talib in Kitab al-Kafi

The 4th committee of the “International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib, the Supporter of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)” entitled “Committee of Theology and Beliefs” was held on Wednesday evening March 10, 2021, in Shahid Sadr Hall in Imam Khomeini Higher Education Complex. The chairman of the committee was Sadegh Akhavan, the judge was Hojat al-Islam Reza Berenjkar, and its secretary was Hojat al-Islam Muhammad Reza Al Ayub.

At the beginning of the session, Hojat al-Islam Ali Akbar Zakeri presented his article entitled “The Character of Hazrat Abu Talib in Book al-Kafi”.

“When the books of unjust scholars about Hazrat Abu Talib (AS) are read, the heart is broken. In these books, narrations are cited that the narrators of those narrations were hostile to Imam Ali (a.s.),” he stated referring to the disregard for Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).

“In the article “The character of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) in the book al-Kafi” 16 narrations have been cited, some of which are related to the time of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), some other narrations are related to the time of the Prophet’s marriage and reading the marriage sermon by Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) and the final part of the narrations are related to the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.),” continued the researcher of religious sciences.

“According to one of the narrations, Hazrat Fatemeh bint Asad (a.s.) inform Abu Talib (a.s.) about the birth of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) after hearing this, told Hazrat Fatemeh bint Asad (a.s.) that after 30 years, the successor of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), will be born from her. These narrations show that before the Be’that too, there was news about the mission in the family of the Prophet (p.b.u.h),” Zakeri added.

“There is a narration that Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) chose the name of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and performed Aqiqah for the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) after his birth and distributed the Aqiqah meat among his relatives,” he said, referring to the naming of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h).

“Some narrations related to Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) are about the childhood of the Prophet (p.b.u.h). During the childhood of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), the people of Mecca suffered from famine. Therefore, they came to Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.). Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) went to the Kaaba with the Prophet (p.b.u.h) when he was a child, and the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) prayed that with his prayer it rained a lot in Mecca. Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) composed poems about this issue,” continued the researcher of religious sciences.

“Abu Talib (a.s.) had known from the childhood of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) that he would be a prominent figure. In quoting narrations about Abu Talib (a.s.), some fanatical scholars concealed the facts, and care should be taken in this regard,” he added.

“While reciting the sermon of the Prophet’s marriage to Hazrat Khadijeh (a.s.), Abu Talib (a.s.) praised the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). Hazrat Abu Talib (AS) has given a lot of support to the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and this support has been narrated and mentioned in the book “Al-Kafi”,” stated Zakeri, referring to the glorification of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) from the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h).

“When the Mushrekin (polytheists) insulted and persecuted the Prophet (p.b.u.h), Abu Talib (a.s.) became angry and went to them with Hazrat Hamza (a.s.) with a sword in his hand and warned them,” he continued.

Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) defended the Prophet (p.b.u.h). Some criticize why Abu Talib (a.s.) did not publicly express his faith.

“However, we should know that some of the Quraysh who supported Abu Talib (a.s.) were not Muslims at that time, and the public expression of faith by Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) caused this group not to stand with Abu Talib in order to support the Prophet any more,” added the researcher of religious sciences.

“In the She’b (Valley) of Abi Talib (during the Quraysh boycott on Bani Hashem, Prophet Muhammad, and his followers), all the relatives of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), both believers and Kafers (infidels), stood with Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), and Abu Talib’s action in not publicly expressing his faith, caused the infidels too to stand by the Prophet (p.b.u.h) in the She’b. In the She’b, Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was determined to defend the Prophet (p.b.u.h) until the last person so that the Moshrekin (polytheists) would not reach the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h),” Zakeri said, referring to the story of Abi Talib She’b (Valley).

“By quoting narrations about Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) in the book al-Kafi, Sheikh al-Kulayni tried to answer the doubts about the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.),” he mentioned.

Following in the meeting, Hojat al-Islam Sadegh Akhavan said, “In the time of Jahiliyyah, there was an official tradition among the pagans called “Jawar” (shelter, refuge, nearness, vicinity, neighborhood) and according to this law, if someone committed the greatest crimes, but one of the elders of the Moshrekin took him in his “Jawar”, the others had nothing to do with him. Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), as the great of the Bani Hashim, using the tradition of “Jawar”, placed the Prophet (p.b.u.h) in his “Jawar” so that the Moshrekin would not kill him.”

“There is no doubt about the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) and his faith was in the highest. But strong arguments must be used to prove his faith,” he added.

In another part of the meeting of the Committee of Theology and Beliefs, referring to the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), Hojat al-Islam Reza Berenjkar stated, “Using the authentic narrations of the Imams (a.s.), it is possible to conclusively prove the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.). These narrations are an answer to the doubts about Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).”

“The fact that there is no mention of the public faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) in historical narrations does not challenge his faith. Because Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) could not support the Prophet (p.b.u.h) if he publicly expressed his faith,” he mentioned.
